Question: How can I get a free autographed photograph from Chipper?
Answer: I get about 5,000 letters a year requesting things such as signed items, tickets, and personal meetings. Many of the letters include items that fans want signed. I got so far behind (about 10,000 items) that I had to just completely stop signing all items sent in, and the requests for other things got lost in the process. So, I started a system in 2000 where I would personally sign about 5,000 photos a year for fans that wrote into the website. I eventually got caught up on the some 20,000 letters, and now, every fan writing in will receive a signed photo personally signed my me. In order to get a signed photo, you must send in a note and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Braves address in care of Chipper Jones and you will eventually get a signed photo back from me. REMEMBER, ONLY ONE PHOTO PER PERSON. Please allow all fans to get the benefit of this program. It can take up to a year or so to get a photo back, but if it is longer than that email me at Ask Chipper and we'll check on the status.
Question: What exactly is your tattoo of?
Answer: My tattoo is of a bull, the sign of the Taurus (my zodiac sign). It's funny because I get this question a lot and I always answer that if would have come home with this tattoo in high school, I would have gotten into big trouble with my parents. I made sure I was out on my own before I decided to get a tattoo. I like it though.
Question: What is you favorite thing to do in the off-season?
Answer: I love to spend time with my boys and wife, and I spend any other time hunting and fishing. They are my get-a-way.
Question: What is you favorite color?
Answer: I like a few different colors - hunter green, navy blue, black, and maroon - It is hard for me to pick just one.
Question: What is you favorite current song/group??
Answer: I like Martina McBride, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Nelly, Ludacris and Nickleback.
And old stuff like Prince and Hootie. I listen to a lot of country and Top 40 stuff on the radio.
Question: Chipper, I am in a bad hitting slump right now. I was wondering what you do when you have hitting slumps? I need all the help I can get!
Answer: I personally talk to my dad and hitting instructor a lot. I also try to take more BP, watch tape of my swing from when things were going well, and most importantly, keep swinging with a positive mental attitude. I have been around the game long enough to realize that you are going to have these kind of slumps. You have got to stay positive and keep approaching the plate as if the at-bat is the one that is going to turn things around. Once a slump breaks your mental approach, it has won. Stay focused.
